Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle from Farnworth Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence for the relevant vehicle category is required, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additionally, valid identification and proof of your current address must be presented, along with valid payment details and a security deposit. Any further requirements will be specified in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations for car hire can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Farnworth office. A booking deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with transactions processed securely through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be completed, requiring your signature for confirmation. Upon return, the vehicle should be in the same condition as when collected, with allowances for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. The vehicle must also be returned with the same fuel level as initially provided; refueling fees will apply if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are liable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or related charges incurred during the rental, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be available to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless you opt for additional coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- Using the vehicle for illegal activities is strictly prohibited. Engaging in racing, off-roading, or similar risky behaviors is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials or substances is forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized individuals to drive is unacceptable. Driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs is prohibited. The vehicle must be used for its intended purposes only, and users must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Additionally, driving outside the specified geographical boundaries without prior approval is not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Cap
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Farnworth is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business arising from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for your rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or for fraudulent activities.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
